I am very happy to announce the probably largest printed panorama currently on display of and in New York City. It is 38×8 feet or 11.5×2.5 meters.
The show at BWAC opens on Saturday, July 17, 1-6PM and is open each weekend until August 21, 2010.
The BWAC gallery is located in Redhook, across the street from Fairway, 499 Van Brunt St, Brooklyn, NY 11231, USA, around the corner from Ikea.
Please direct all sales inquiries to 532 Gallery, Thomas Jaeckel, info@532gallery.com, (917) 701-3338.
Please note that I usually print my panoramas as c-prints and diasec mount them. This panorama is printed on laminated canvas, just to get to this particular size, hence the crinkles and reflections.

And here is how the rest of the show looks like:

We stumbled more or less through a happy accident onto the Benini Sculpture Ranch in/near Johnson City, TX. We were walking though Johnson City on Sunday afternoon, found only one art gallery open, chatted with the owner who strongly suggested that we try to get to the sculpture ranch as long as there is some daylight left. We drove about 6 miles through ranch land including cattle grates, and found the ranch, which was a really nice equivalent to Stormking, a sculpture park 2h north of NYC. It was the end of an “Arts Encounter” and it was really nice to meet a handful of the artists who are exhibiting on the ranch, including the Benini’s themselfs, who were most generous and tremendously nice people. The interesting bit about the Benini Ranch is that it was Lyndon B Johnsons ranch before, where he had 3 trailers to write his memoirs. The trailers got then later replaced with a real house by the next owners, and then Benini bought it in the 70s, and made it a sculpture park with his works, and tons of other great artists. If you are in Austin, try to make the 1h drive to the ranch, it is really worth the time.
Here are the views from the top of the mountain:

Bettye is currently exhibiting a couple of her metal sculptures at the Benini Sculpture Ranch in/near Johnson City, TX, including two of her magnificent Texas Long Horns. One of them you can see right next to the highway, the other one (see below) is in the ranch, some 5 miles off the highway. I personally think that they would make great pieces on a NYC penthouse, or would look great at Stormking.

This might be a bit of an unusual plea, but with almost 10000 visitors a month from all over the world on my blog, I think this is a reasonable approach. Here is my pitch: I need to expand the reach of my art work. It is very large photography, and it looks great here on my website, but it looks even better on the wall (see the exhibition shots below from the show in Newark, NJ). I have had seven group shows here in the New York metro area so far, and while the response of the viewers was very enthusiastic, the actual sales were less than enthusiastic.
If you have a gallery, or if you are a curator, or if you know somebody that has a gallery or is curating a show, and needs large interesting works, and if you think that my work would fit, I would like to hear from you, no matter where on this planet, but especially Pan-Asia, the Middle East and Europe. This would include that you are able to ship my work, or let me produce it locally (depending on the availability of high-end photolabs in your area), and hopefully sell it of course.
If you are writing about art or photography, either on paper or on the web, and think that there is something in my work, I would also like to hear from you. NY arts magazine published a great one-pager about me and my artwork in the current issue, Nov 2008. And a couple of international blogs wrote a little bit about me recently, especially from Iran, Spain, France, Poland and Korea (see Friends&Links). But any additional PR can’t really hurt.

Edit: Last chance to see the Chelsea show: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11 to 6 are your last opportunities to see the panoramas on the wall. We are taking the show down on Friday, August 15, and I have no future shows lined up yet.
I am excited to announce that I have found gallery representation: 532 Gallery Thomas Jaeckel (532 W 25 St) really liked my art and decided to represent me for the foreseeable future.
And even better, he is opening a group show on June 26 that runs until August 15 with me, Richard Roth and Carol Salmanson, titled INCANDESCENT. So, if you are in town, swing by the gallery and see my art in person. The opening reception is on June 26, 6-9pm. Hours: Tue-Fri 11–6, Thu 11–8 and by appointment.
Here are the 9 panoramas I will show:

I finally will be showing a couple of my panoramas at the BWAC Art Show in Redhook, Brooklyn (right next to the Fairway) from September until the end of October, and I am very excited about it.
Watertaxi takes you conveniently to Redhook.I will be showing the following panoramas (all sandwich mounted between plexi and dibond):
- North – East – South – West (each 60×60 inch)
- Pepsi Cola (96×30 inch)
- Moon over Central Park (96×40 inch)
- round Midnight (96×30 inch)
I will also have 2 small 30 inch panoramas up on the BWAC exhibition auction wall (Grand Central and Midtown), up for the grabs (Update: both small panoramas are sold).
Please come by and bring friends. The BWAC Fall Show is big and exciting (more than 200 artists), and the trip to Redhook is certainly interesting. I’m trying to be there most of the time, just send me an email if/when your going.
UPDATE:
The show opening was great, and many people showed up. Some pictures after the jump.

I am taking part in the projekt30 september art competition, and the public can vote on each artists, before the jury sees it at the beginning of september. So, please go to http://www.projekt30.com/jury.html, click on “jury the exhibition” and click “next artist” until you see my panoramas.
The artists are displayed in random order, my work might be on page 3 or on page 110. If you like, feel free to give your vote to all the other fine artists. You have to vote for at least 20 artists to make your vote count.
Update: After so many of you voted for me, and got me into the “top 30,” it turned out that that was it. No further benefit, no further publicity from the website, no links, no contacts, no answers. I wasted my money, and your time for nothing. Thank you very much Projekt30, for such a useless Website.

Earlier this year I decided to try to make a career out of my photography, and some weeks ago I came up with a sister site to my blog, called Luminous New York, which has only the best night panoramas I did so far. The name reflect the theme. All the panoramas there are for sale, limited editions, digital c-prints (real photopaper), pretty large, insanely detailed and just ideal for most apartments with an empty wall. Prices are open to negotiation, but start around $2000 without mounting/framing.
I put up a zoomify version of the “West” panorama, to give you an idea how detailed the panoramas are. Just calling it 550 megapixel doesn’t give the images enough credit.
I can take of mounting, and I do prefer the Diasec process (plexi/aluminium sandwich, looks stunning, lasts for ever and is not cheap).
If you are interested in getting one, let me know. If you have a client, or know someone who like one, shoot me an email. If you know a gallery that would like to represent me, I would love to hear from you. If you would like to see some examples, we can arrange a meeting (in NYC).
If you feel that a panorama that you’ve seen here on newyorkpanorama.com should be also on luminous-newyork.com, leave a comment, if a panoarama gets enough “votes,” I’ll add it to the portfolio.
